The color temperature of a LED light source is described the absolute temperature which is equal or close to the black-body radiator. It is expressed by the symbol K, a unit of measure for temperature based on the Kelvin scale. Different color temperature would cause people’s different reflection in emotion. It is always divided into three categories:
1. Warm Color: the color temperature of warm color is below 3300K. The light is very close to incandescent and has much more red color, which is able to make people feel warm, healthy and comfortable. Therefore, it is suitable for family, residence, dormitory, hospital, hotel, or other low temperature places.
2. Warm White: It is also named middle color and the color temperature is between 3300K and 5300K. The light is gentle, which is able to make people feel happy, suitable and serene. Therefore, it is suitable for shop, hospital, office, restaurant, dining room, waiting room, etc.
3. Cool Color: It is also named sun light color and the color temperature is over 5300K. The light source approaches natural light, which brings people the feeling of bright and help them focus their attention. Therefore, it is suitable for office, meeting room, classroom, drawing room, design room, reading room, window display, etc.
Generally Speaking, the industrial LED lighting fixtures belong to warm white or cool color, whose color temperature is between 4500K and 5500K, such as led high bay , LED Flood Lights , etc. Of course, the color temperature is not fixable. It is changeable with the demand of customer and environmental condition.
As for the color rendering index (CRI), it refers to the extent of display that light source aims at object color. In other words, it means the realistic degree of color. The higher the CRI is, the better the light source displays about color and the color we see is much closer to natural color. On the contrary, if the CRI is low, the light source displays weak about color and the color we see has a large deviation.
