As one of the essential part of modern home lighting, different LED light source is able to create different atmosphere. Then do you know the key specification of it?
1. Luminous flux
Luminous flux is the quantity of the energy of the light emitted per second in all directions. In terms of light source, it is expressed the total energy that light source gives out, which is equal to light power. The unit of luminous flux is lumen (lm). In general, if the power is bigger, both the luminous efficiency and flux are higher.
2. Color temperature
Color temperature of a LED light source is described the absolute temperature which is equal or close to the black-body radiator. It is expressed by the symbol K, a unit of measure for temperature based on the Kelvin scale. Different color temperature would cause people’s different reflection in emotion.
3. Color rendering index
Color rendering index (CRI), it refers to the extent of display that light source aims at object color. In other words, it means the realistic degree of color. The higher the CRI is, the better the light source displays about color and the color we see is much closer to natural color. On the contrary, if the CRI is low, the light source displays weak about color and the color we see has a large deviation.
4. Luminous efficiency
The ratio of total luminous flux that light source emits to power is named as luminous efficiency. It also means the quantity of light that different light source consumes the same electricity to emit in the same time. It’s no doubt that higher luminous flux of light source is able to save much more energy than lower luminous flux. For example, led high bay could save much more energy than incandescent.
As we all know, the light that is emitted by light source presents rapid and repeated variation with the time passing by, which make the light instability. While the flash times of light source per seconds is named as stroboflash. The higher the stoboflash is, the larger the adverse effect that eyes suffers. Of course, it is not easy to observe the flicker of light source by eyes and it mainly depends on the frequency of flicker.
