If LED Light intends to take the place of ordinary compact fluorescent lamp, the luminous flux must reach 1000Lm, while the cost has to decrease 1 dollar per thousand lumens. Only in this way can LED Light spread in the market. Without mention of led high bay in industrial lighting, only in ordinary families, the traditional internal lighting fixture, whose luminance is less than 1000Lm, is as high as 65%. If the luminance of single piece of LED light is able to arrive in 1000Lm, it could solve the demand of most internal lighting.
So far, the cost of tungsten lamp is $0.3 Klm, fluorescent lamp is $0.6/Klm, compact fluorescent lamp is $2-3/Klm, but LED Light is $15-20/Klm. Obviously, the cost of LED Light is much more higher than traditional light. Therefore, in the recent times, there are still some difficulties for LED Light substituting compact fluorescent lamp. We must try to decrease it below $1/Klm so that it could be popularized widely.
Then how to improve the luminous efficacy and reduce the cost of LED Light? In 2007, the luminous efficacy of LED is only 11%. Research shows that the methods of improving luminous efficacy is to use highlight LED light with chip encapsulation and select high efficiency driver power. This is the case. After manufactories ten years of hard work and continuously improving production technology, the luminous efficacy has reached more than 90%. It’s believed that in the next few years, the cost of LED Light would be reduced greatly.
